These are cheaper, and are more available than an original complete engine , of the same type. The engine development is continuous, and thus , more and new types of engines on the market. VM can still provide a long block or a short block . CF techniek B.V. has diverent types in stock.

A long block is a new rotating part (crankshaft , connecting rods, camshaft , pistons, etc ) together with the cylinder heads as opposed to a short block in which there are no cylinder heads are mounted . Components such as water pump, starter, alternator , fuel pump, flywheel housing etc. should be transferred from the old engine , or renewed if no longer functional.
